Where do you focus your energy? It always amazes me what people will focus their energy on. The examples are countless – endless. Certainly you must know a few people who are basically all over the place and nowhere at the same time.
The main point in this article is the concept of today. Yes, today.
Recently, in Orlando, FL. John C. Maxwell, shared a few of his ideas about the importance of today. John is a New York Times Best Selling Author and Leadership Guru – so named by INC. Magazine and numerous other organizations around the world. When he speaks – people really do listen.
There are times when John wants to snap you into action with his words. Afterall words spoken are only words unless the people who hear them take action. Then the person who spoke them has really added value to people. John is all about adding value to people.
One of these statements which caught my attention was, “..nothing stays like it is, until you are dead.” Think about it. This is a statement of fact – right?
The point this is driving home is that today is where our main focus needs to be. No one should be living in their yesterdays. “Yes, value yesterday, live in today.”
Consider this next point as it relates to these statements… life should not be a still photo, rather life is a video, our own video of each of us as we change, as we evolve. Life is not a still photo captured at one point in time in our lives.
Now back to where we spend our time and energy each day.
If we focus on today as the most important day we have in our lives, would we do each of the things we do on a daily basis every single day? Take a moment as your day progresses today or for the next full day after you read this article and track the items you spend five or more minutes on which you don’t need to be spending even a thought on.
Odds are there are enough distractions or needless time consuming items in each day of your life where if you decided to never do these again you would be able to devote yourself to something more important. It is possible this might be something you have always wanted to do but thought, “I will never have the time to do that.” Now all of a sudden you do have the time.
This is not a joke.
Today Matters. This is the title of the book by John C. Maxwell which his talk in Orlando, FL. was based upon. His message is clear. “We have to live in today, but think about tomorrow. The future has a way of arriving unannounced.”
How will you make your Today Matter each day moving forward?
