Are you spending more time out of your ‘lockdown’ room, apartment or house now?
You remember the place you and everyone else was pretty much staying in for months and months on end. During that time didn’t we all spend at least a few moments alone dreaming of how we will behave once this all clears up.
How life is too short to be mean, to be pushy with people, to be totally self absorbed and instead to be kind, pleasant, to volunteer, to serve others, to reconnect with people I’ve not connected with for way too long.
Well – have you noticed – What The Hell Is Happening Out There?!
Let’s start with the reports of certain people on civilian aircraft, while in flight, physically attacking flight attendants. Who does that?
I mean we are talking in one case about a guy standing up and punching a women in the face and breaking bones in her face. Passengers getting up and physically attacking flight attendants.
There have been more of these incidents in the last year than historically – ever.
Have you noticed the traffic on the roads?
If so many people are ‘working’ from home, why are so many people out driving their cars?
More people moved from certain parts of the country, especially big cities, to more suburban and country type places. What they brought along with them are their driving habits. So instead of a wave hello or waiting patiently for people to cross the road, horns are blasted, bright high beams are flicked and the engine is gunned as soon as possible. It’s as if everyone wants to let out their inner NASCAR on the local roads.
So let me ask you this – would it be too much trouble – this year – for just one time – plan to do something special for someone you don’t know the week before, during or after Thanksgiving?
You decide – you’re welcome to share it here if you wish – don’t have any ideas?
- Volunteer to serve food at a local shelter kitchen where the homeless and others have their Thanksgiving Dinner
- Buy a family a Thanksgiving Dinner and bring it to their home
- Do you have ideas you would like to share with others
What will happen is maybe, just maybe enough people will remember being locked down, remember the promises they made to themselves, and maybe, just maybe, everyone will calm down a bit and take a breath or two.
Here is a good news item I read about in the Wall Street Journal.
A few organizations around the world are going out to the merchant ships stuck at anchor and providing covid vaccinations to the crew members. In many cases these crew members cannot leave the ships as they are anchored too far from the port and they are not permitted to leave the ship once at the dock because they haven’t been vaccinated. Brilliant idea to provide the covid vaccines to these seaman. Another unappreciated essential worker in the middle of a supply chain mess.
Be safe out there – it’s wild. Remember if you need someone to talk to I’m here.
