“Preparedness is the ultimate confidence builder.”
– Vince Lombardi
This pandemic is a once in a lifetime event.
These last 19 months have been like nothing we have ever experienced before. Many people call it a “once in a lifetime event”.
Or is it?
Is it possible something similar or different with an impact this severe or worse may happen again and soon?
Of course no one wants this to happen. However, what if it did? Will you be more prepared?
What lessons or take-aways do you have to be more prepared for the next time?
What would you do differently? How could you be better prepared?
Assuming your next “once in a lifetime event” will be different than a global pandemic, how can you best prepare?
“By failing to prepare you are preparing to fail.”
– Ben Franklin
Aboard ships there are specific drills for different kinds of emergencies.
Everyone working on a ship has been trained for fire emergencies of all different types of fires. At sea you cannot just call up the fire department. You are the fire department.
There are man overboard drills. Everyone is trained to toss life rings overboard in the direction of the person who went over or the last known sighting in order to conduct a retrace of the ship’s course in the opposite direction.
There are drills for abandon ship. The reason is simply to be ready if you need to do this it won’t be the first time you’ve done it.
“The future belongs to those who prepare for it.”
– Ralph Waldo Emerson
Being prepared is just the smart thing to do. It is not being a pessimist or a worrier. What are the areas you will be focused on so you are better prepared in the future?
Your home?
Your family?
Your business?
Your health?
Better training for you, your family, your team?
Are there more you want to add to this list?
What can you start working on now that is on this list?
Isn’t this the perfect time?
Create your own list and how you will prepare for a future event.
Then begin taking the steps necessary to be better prepared. There is no time like the present to do this – get started now.
