The last two months of the year are about to begin.
Our minds think this means we have eight more weeks to finish the year strong.
Not exactly.
Take into consideration family, friends and business functions that will be taking place in November and December. Add in some potential travel involved and realistically there’s six weeks remaining. You may even have a few days set aside for vacation.
Now with your calendar nearby and a plan, you will be able to get more productive days out of these last two months than six weeks.
Let’s begin with a basic list.
In one or two words, note what are the items that must get accomplished in these two months. Whatever comes to mind add it to the list right down the column. This should include people you must see and networking that needs to take place.
Before we address your list is there anything on your list that refers specifically to next year?
Or about your intentions for your own personal growth and for mentoring others? If not create a second list with these items on it.
Now we get to prioritization.
The notations scale is a five (5) means “I must get this done.”
A one (1) means “someone else can handle this so I’ll delegate it.” And this may be for a two or a three as well just more important. Go through your list and rate each item on the list.
Now begin to use your calendar to place your top priorities into time and date slots.
Of course there will be some items requiring mutual scheduling. Use your dates and times to propose when to meet or speak with someone.
For the second list that refers to next year, your own personal growth and mentoring others — these will be worked on by you on specific dates and times of your choosing.
It will be most productive if you will carve out a few 90 minute slots to work on these by yourself.
By taking the time now to construct your planning and calendar for the last two months of the year you will find that these months will be productive and less stressful than they may have been in the past.
