What do top performers in the C-Suite have in common with top performers on NBA Teams (like the Golden State Warriors), top performers in the Professional Golf and Tennis World, and in many other areas of business, sports and life?
A Coach. Their Personal Coach.
Yes, sports teams have a Head Coach, Specialty Coaches and Weight Training Coaches. Tennis and Golf have a swing Coach. Top C-Suite Executives may have a Presentation or a Speaking Coach.
In general, Coaching helps an already successful, generally well functioning person to reach a higher level of success.
Coaches also help client’s leverage their strengths and develop themselves in ways that bring greater success and satisfaction in their career and in their personal life. The aim of Coaching is generally to achieve excellence and greater success. Coaching is often conducted in person, on screen video (Zoom) or by phone.
“Why bring this up and explain this to us now Mitch?”
It’s because I was point blank asked if people still worked with Cheerleaders?
“That’s what all you Coaches are, right? Cheerleaders?”
Now where that idea first came from I have no idea. And why this person who knows me a little would think this….?
In my practice there are times for compliments and there are times as well for push back and questioning. There is accountability to get things done, take action, as discussed and agreed to. There is access to me personally as a confidential sounding board.
A coach is not a cheerleader.
A coach should not be a cheerleader.

Do you know I’m interviewing stroke survivors, their spouse or partner as well?
The purpose is to compile these stories in order to share the information with others. The stories will inspire others, help them with tips for handling what they are going through now and what they may face in the future. It may even become a go to resource for stroke survivors and their families.
