In a recent article there is a celebration of the weekly publication of “Navigating Your Course For Success” Here is the article if you missed it.
A lot of effort goes into writing these articles each week and that is the focus of that article. One area which was not discussed was the team. The team which posts the article, cleans it up for display and for smart device display and places the image along with the article.
The point is that it is not just about me. It takes a winning team to provide their experience and talents.
“Talent wins games, but teamwork and intelligence win championships.”
– Michael Jordan
Do you work with a group of people who work with you?
Each person with their areas of knowledge and experience able to add to the mix.
Who provide a positive influence on the outcome?
Do you facilitate everyone feeling comfortable enough to provide honest and open opinions – sometimes even when not asked?
“None of us, including me, ever do great things. But we can all do small things, with great love, and together we can do something wonderful.”
– Mother Teresa
Some people get lost or all caught up in the teamwork way of thinking.
They assume this is something only for sports and then only for certain sports.
There are certain people who perceive of themselves as leaders. They dictate the marching orders and then assume the teamwork will take place on it’s own. As if through the hands of Mother Nature.
“Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.”
– Helen Keller
Anyone who has been part of a team effort either in business, school projects, volunteer work and yes even in sports – when it is clicking – when it is working – the feeling is amazing.
Part of what makes it work is –
- the willingness to listen to others
- a stay with it attitude even in adversity
- be willing to admit where you went wrong and quickly make the necessary corrections and enlist others on the team to help you make the changes and corrections necessary.
“Individual commitment to a group effort — that is what makes a team work, a company work, a society work, a civilization work.” – Vince Lombardi
Everything worth doing and worth being a part of is going to take commitment. Team work is no different. Never speak ill of your team the mission or the people who are on the team with you. They should be like family members with you.
You should not be an island to yourself.
One of the great things about a team – we pick each other up. It is very difficult that we each have a win and a great day every. We do each try to – if we don’t – a team mate can pick you up.
Here is my challenge to you – if you don’t have a team – put one together. If you and your team are not working well together contact me here and let’s schedule a call.
