It just happened again today. In between opportunity meetings the conversation overheard went something like this…
“If I don’t get these deals closed in the next couple of days, well, everyone knows what happens in the summer around here…”
“Nothing!”
“No one is going to be working or have any interest in meeting with me.”
Now here is the thing about this attitude –
“Say it often enough – not only will you believe it – it will come to pass.”
– Mitch Tublin
If you feel this way about the summer months and engaging with people to discuss their business – what do you plan to do then during the summer months? Go fishing everyday?
Here are my key tips for you and your summer mindset:
- People in general are more relaxed during the summer months. This will mean you will be able to meet with people one-on-one. Do not assume or even think people are not at work in the summer months.
- Plan to consistently work on your mindset. Too many people are out there knocking the summer months. You will need to counter act this noise with your favorite positive mindset quotes and sayings and books. This will be critical to your success.
- Use your time wisely and plan some trips or at least a few long weekend activities. The stories from these weekend trips or other experiences will make for excellent ice breaker material when you meet with people you do not know or at a networking event. Oh, and you might enjoy relaxing while you are doing them too.
In summary, don’t make this complicated. Don’t listen to the naysayers.
Be positive.
Be willing to meet with people.
Be available.
