The wheelhouse has evolved over the years.
That is the structure and the equipment housed inside. One of the more modern luxuries found in the wheelhouse today, after hundreds of years, is a bathroom. When you are standing watch for four hours, nature calls.
Frankly it is almost unimaginable to have the head – bathroom – in the wheelhouse ever go out of order for any length of time.
Right now, with the entire family being asked to stay at home for weeks at a time, what would happen if the bathroom stopped working?
Really think about it. Your local plumber is suddenly your BFF. In fact consider having a conversation with a plumber. They’re busier than ever!
Every single day is like the days after Thanksgiving! Every single day is like the days after Super Bowl Sunday! Time out – kids the Super Bowl used to be a huge event where the two teams at top of their conferences in the NFL played each other to determine that years champion. Plus performers put on lip synching contests a half time while at times partially disrobing. It was quite a spectacle.
Back to plumbers.
Here are some statistics for plumber salaries working for a company:
New Jersey $71,400
Alaska $74,500
Minnesota $73,300
New York $67,100
Personally I think this representation is low. Many plumbers I know are able to achieve At least 30 to 40% more through side jobs or running their own business.
Right now with parents guiding their kids to ‘gap’ year their freshman year at college due to the pandemic situation, certain universities are sending letters to accepted students that their acceptance will be withdrawn if they choose to gap year. Apply again next year if you want – Good Luck!
Here is a thought – take a good look at the trades.
Plumbers, electricians, welders and many others are really viable careers.
At the very least if you plan to take a gap year – why not work in a trade as a trainee and learn the craft?
What is the worst thing to happen when you do go to college the nest year? Later in life you will know more about plumbing or electrical work than the majority of other homeowners!
Who knows maybe you will enjoy the freedom this type of work offers you.
Maybe it is a way to earn money to pay to attend college. The trades will always be needed. Often times if the simplest things do not work, it can stop everything.
