Lighthouses have been the theme for this month.
One of the topics within this theme has been the central figure all the way through history providing open fires, controlled wax burning frames, oil or coal based fires and ultimately electrical light. The central figure was the involvement of humans to control the light.
Today, virtually all lighthouses are run by machines and remote monitoring. There are automatic sensors deciding if there is extra moisture in the air requiring the fog signals to be turned on. Radio signals are used to communicate with the ships. Another sensor alerts someone to replace any bulbs or conduct any servicing by a specific date.
So the question to ask yourself is – Can you be replaced by automation?
If you are shaking your head no and saying definitely not – be careful.
Think of Kodak when they had a similar response in regard to digital photos. Think of Blockbuster where everyone went to rent a VHS movie, history is littered with the ‘no way, not me’ examples.
Now consider the opportunities in front of you instead of the attitude of denial.
At this time of all time record unemployment, where can you be part of the solution rather than part of the problem? What industry or aspect of business do you have an experience in and skill set that would apply well to helping solve some of their problems. If you are able to think this through and clearly identify it this is your ticket to secure your job or obtain a new one.
The next step is to get in front of the right people with your story and make the impression necessary to prove you are the right person to get this done for their organization.
Everything moving forward is going to be about reinventing yourself.
Growing yourself and the willingness to change. Let’s say you agree with these statements. However, you are stuck in how to execute even step one. Why not fill out this form and let’s schedule a no cost, no sales pitch call where we can discuss your specific issue?
There is a good chance when we are together some light will be shed on your situation and some solutions.
