This month the nautical theme is ports.
Where ships are going to and leaving from. This subject will then be tied into a topic, a teaching, something that may be utilized by you in your business, career path and personal development.
The phrase any port in a storm has a few definitions.
The proverb ‘Any port in a storm‘ suggests that, when in difficulty you need not to seek the perfect solution; any solution will suffice.
And…
A person, group, or place where one can find comfort, refuge, or help during particularly difficult or trying times. The related phrase “any port in a storm” implies.
For ship at sea in danger from weather or mechanical issues, these would be exactly why this nautical phrase came to be.
What is fairly common and extremely disappointing is too many business owners and high level corporate people behave exactly like this when a difficult situation arises. Even though they may have seen it coming with plenty of advance notice… now it is here and any solution will suffice.
Maybe this worked years ago – not any longer.
In a time when alternate data storage is done in the cloud and possibly double disc backup stored in another location – not being prepared is unacceptable.
Something they should recognize is the top golfers, tennis players, CEO’s and entrepreneurs ALL work with coaches. They have established relationships with a trusted coach in preparation for a difficult time. They want to be prepared.
There are many ways to find the right coach for you.
The majority of professional coaches will offer a no cost 15 to twenty minute get to know you meeting. This is typically conducted on the phone, skype or zoom. From there it is a two way street. You may or may not feel comfortable with them. They may or may not feel you are a good match for them.
Ask people you know who is either working with a coach or may know of one. Determine what frame of reference you want the coach to have. Well rounded approach, business coaching, family and relationship coaching or would it be for a specific skill like public speaking.
The point is to start this process before there is a crisis. This way you will be much more prepared to weather the storm.
