You need to plan.
A plan is a starting point – a guide.
Plans are made to change. At times a small change makes a big difference.
“By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail.”
– Benjamin Franklin
Now it is okay to fail. As long as it is done along an intentional path you planned. From the failure you learn, you make adjustments and you have another go at it. You learn from failure. That’s a lot different than setting yourself up for failure.
The planning process must be done with certain key elements in it.
One is time.
Each part of the plan is put together with a date to be completed by. Time is in parts – one part is the results and outcome you are working toward. The other part is more related to close by steps necessary to go there.
“Give me six hours to chop down a tree and I will spend the first four sharpening the axe.”
– Abraham Lincoln
Second is accountability.
Who will hold you accountable? How often will you check in with each other?
Another is the analysis and review – preferably one specific day and time to review what was accomplished in the last week and what will be accomplished this week. A part of the review is looking at the results and outcome intended and are you still heading in the right direction.
“If you don’t know where you are going, you’ll end up someplace else.”
– Yogi Berra
There are other aspects of the planning process, however, for now let me close with, the need to chunk down the nearby steps into achievable in the attached time frame while still being a stretch.
“Most people fail in life not because they aim too high and miss, but because they aim too low and hit.”
– Les Brown
You really do need to make planning a key part of everything you do.
What you have here are enough of the steps you need to get started with your planning process. So go ahead and start!

Most importantly do something!
