How do you feel about failing?
How about when it’s your co-workers, employees, or your kids?
“I don’t want it to go right for my kids all the time. I told them that this morning. I said, I want you guys to fail because I want to see what you’re made of if you fail and when you fail. Because life isn’t gonna be just a smooth ride, so we gotta develop resiliency.”

“Most people fail in life not because they aim too high and miss, but because they aim too low and hit.”
Les Brown
“If you can’t admit a failure, you’re not an entrepreneur. You are not a good business person. There’s nothing brilliant about what you’re doing.”
Mark Cuban
Note: before Mark Cuban became a billionaire in 1999, he experienced numerous failures. He came through because he believes past mistakes don’t matter. On February 4, 2020 he stated on Barstool Sports, podcast Pardon My Take: “It doesn’t matter how many times you f— up, you only gotta be right once. Then everybody tells you how lucky you are.”
“I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.” This quote encapsulates the essence of resilience. By experiencing failures, Michael Jordan developed an unyielding determination to keep pushing forward, learn from his mistakes, and grow stronger. And I love Michael Jordan’s quote:
“I can accept failure, everyone fails at something. But I can’t accept not trying. Talent wins games, but teamwork and intelligence wins championships.”
Hopefully your mind is warmed up for my questions.
Where have you failed?
And the next failure?
What did you learn from it?
And from the next failure?
How do you handle an employee who fails?
What have you said or done when your kids have failed?
Consider the thoughts from these two men.
“Failure is success in progress.” “If you’ve never failed, you’ve never tried anything new.”
Albert Einstein
“I have not failed 10,000 times, I have not failed once. I have succeeded in proving that those 10,000 ways will not work.”
Thomas A. Edison
And possibly the most meaningful quote here for you today:
“Many of life’s failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.”
Thomas A. Edison
Consider where you fail – what are you learning?
Don’t give up too soon.
