Do You Value The Double?

The use of pocket change and coins in the USA has really gone away.

Do You Value The Double?In fact there are people who walk by coins on the ground every day and they don’t even think about stopping and bending down to pick them up.

Would you care if your one cent was doubled into two cents?  Probably not so much. If it were fifty dollars doubled to one hundred dollars you would be happy about that one hundred dollars.

My guess is if your annual salary was doubled this would make you ecstatic!

Statistics in baseball have always been interesting for baseball fans and math nerds. Even the passing fan pays attention to how many home runs the top players are hitting in a season. Everyone attending the baseball game in person wants to see the home run. What about the double? The two bagger.

Would you like to know a few interesting facts about the doubles hit by major league baseball players?

In the top ten doubles hit by a player in their career only two players had careers which were in the 2000’s. Each of these players, Craig Biggio (#5) with 668 and David Ortiz (#10) with 632 were well behind Tris Speaker (#1) with 792. The rest of the top ten all played many years prior.

It is the double which is the real challenge to hit with consistency.

When you have a priority project or a business you are running how much time do you devote to the one or two most important items? The highest priority items?  Think about it and write down or text it to yourself.

Now what would happen if you doubled the time you spent on the one or two or three or four TOP – THE HIGHEST PRIORITY ITEMS?  Now wait a minute! No one asked you where the time was going to come from. We will deal with that in a minute. The question is – if you DOUBLED the time you typically spend on the top – the highest priority items what would happen? Think about it.

In summary, the point is to strive to hit doubles consistently in everything you do. Remember there is nothing wrong with swinging for the fences – just remember the home run leaders typically have a high number of strike outs as well.
