In my last article the topic was about TRUST and Who Do You Trust?
Now a slight twist to that theme – DEPENDABLE
Are You Dependable?
It is not only a business or work question – it is a life – friend – relationship question as well.
Let’s begin with a few questions about life and being dependable.
Have you ever promised to meet or help out a friend and then forgot about it. As in you never showed up or called or texted. Straight up blown them off?
Do you tend to have relationships where it is more about you most of the time? Yes, you know who you are, and less about the other person – less listening – less pleasantries – less compassion toward them?
Dependable means you are on time.
Dependable means you are always there for others especially those you care about.
Dependable means when someone wants to share something you know how to listen.
Seriously, where do you stand on the dependable scale in your life?
How do others view you? Are you someone they see as dependable?
Now let’s look at your career and are you dependable?
Let’s begin with a few questions about being dependable in your career?
When there is a special project or something outside of your usual work load to be done – do you ever volunteer first to get involved?
If someone leaves the company or becomes ill have you ever volunteered to help out and cover that person’s work responsibilities until someone else is hired for the role?
Are these examples of things that every person should do in their work life? The point here is to be thought of as dependable in your career – in order to make certain this takes place – yes, these are a sample of a couple of things you must consider doing as soon as possible.
Now let’s look at your business and are you dependable?
Let’s begin with a few questions about being dependable in your business?
Do your customers consider you to be dependable in your business?
Have you ever promised or stated a certain service or item would be a certain way while knowing full well it was not that way at all?
In summary and especially in your business – if you have to think about being dependable in your business you probably are not dependable. If you have to think about and consider how to be dependable in your business – you probably never will be dependable in your business unless you really work at it.
