There are those who espouse Conspiracy Theories and others who label these statements, posts, articles, videos and speeches as Conspiracy Theories.
These do go from fairly commonly discussed theories to others which are really ‘out there’.
Here are a few in brief –
- UFO’s (particularly in Nevada, area 51)
- JFK assassination, who really was behind it
- A secretive group is hiding US Government truths from the general population
- Mind Control Lab in Alaska
- Bigfoot Sightings
- And believe me when I say some other real doozies.
So, while reading an article in the WSJ (Wednesday, January 18, 2024) “The Reason The Office Isn’t Fun Anymore”, which is about the trend now for office design is no longer open space floor plans. Rather, it’s old school telephone booth-like pods where a person may get on a call or a zoom and not hear any other noises. It’s stated that post covid workers aren’t really craving social contact with co-workers, no, it turns out we’re craving privacy and quiet.
Now there’s much more in the article about office design awareness of this trend from mini-tent pods to work in – to close to the “Dome of Silence” from the Get Smart series from the 1960’s.
This all had me thinking – Is It a Conspiracy Theory or Really Smart Business?
During covid no one to speak of was going to the office.
This translated to every business which in some way was connected with offices were toast. Not just coffee shops, delis, bars, restaurants… also the equipment people, office furniture people, window washers and more. Who else – office layout and design companies.
Now as workers are coming back to the office, many of these other support to the office companies are seeing their businesses come back to life. However, how will the office design and layout folks get in on the action.
First, they sell the idea that to encourage workers to come back to the office it must have more open space for social interaction. More smaller conference rooms so any zoom meetings may be conducted with small groups in privacy.
The landlords and office managers buy in and start designing and buying furnishings like couches for open areas and more.
Second, as workers are slowly coming back to the office, it becomes clear everyone really just wants to be left alone. Afterall it’s been over two years of no co-workers making noise and bothering me with chit chat – just give me a quiet room off to the side.
Here’s my question to you – did this all just happen or was there some social media marketing going on behind the scenes?
Office payout and design companies needed to make up for over two years of no work.
What better way than to double down like the fashion industry. Different outfits are required with different styles and colors every few months to be in style.
