Do you connect with your heart?
What I’m asking you is – are the majority of your conversations and even your relationships transactional based interactions? My bet is they are!
Your work/business is mostly transactional right?
Appointments and meetings and schedules to follow. Sell, sell, sell.
Measuring results and optimizing people or processes or teamwork.
What would happen if you introduced some heart?
Especially now as more and more of us are getting reacquainted with in person office environments and in person interactions after almost two years of lockdowns. Without seeing people eye to eye in person.
What would happen if one of the first conversations was started with, “So really – how are you doing?” Or if that seems too soon and too abrupt work your way up to that question after a few days of working together back at the office in person or flying in to see a customer for the first time in awhile.
Now be ready to give an answer yourself as this question may likely come right back at you right away. This isn’t a time for a fake, phoney, canned or rehearsed bs talk. Be real. Give a heart felt answer. Because that’s the whole point! Maybe you need to be the one to start the heartfelt conversation to get people to relax and open up.
When did wearing a suit armor become the suit you wear to the office?
Think of it this way – have you ever had something inside just bothering you? Maybe it was for five minutes – five hours – five days – five weeks – five months or five years.
Then one day you finally talked about it with someone. They were a good listener and you got emotional and really let it all out.
Once you did that – didn’t you feel better?
Didn’t you feel like a weight you were carrying around was all of a sudden lifted from you?
I’m not saying this will exactly happen this way with everyone you, speak with. However, it’s a start. So how about it – try to connect with your heart.
Consider – if this is difficult for you to do – ask yourself – why?
Do you need to speak with someone yourself first to figure out why?
