This is part two of a two part article on you having a productive day. If you missed part one, read it here.
We all want each of our days to be productive days don’t we?
So how do we complete each day?
It’s going to summarize everything we accomplished today and prepare us for our day tomorrow.
Take a moment and write out the various things you typically do currently for your end of day routine. Let’s look these items over.
Did these review how you made out today with your intention of how your day was going to go?
Did you carry over any unfinished items from your to-do list for tomorrow?
Let’s not get caught up in the Q and A and get into the right way to conclude your day for increased productivity tomorrow.
Plan a 30 minute ‘wrap up’ time
First plan to have at least thirty minutes at the end of the day to ‘wrap up’ — which means conclude the day properly and set up for higher productivity tomorrow.
This thirty minute routine is non-negotiable. Thirty minutes is a suggestion, you make the decision, as you may need a full 60 minutes or more everyday, I don’t know.
So be guided accordingly.
Review how today went
My suggestion is to take a few approaches on how you did today. The first look is what you were able to get done in the first half and second half of the morning. You may want to refer to times like from 8 AM – 10 AM and then 10 AM to Noon. Your choice regarding if that works for you.
Similarly identify the rest of the day into segments and rate how effective you were and your accomplishments and energy levels. Over time this will allow you to identify patterns and this information will be helpful.
The second look is your intention you had set for this day and the to-do list. Carefully review your original intention for the day and compare this to how the day actually transpired.
Now rate the to-do list.
Carry over unfinished items for tomorrow and add new items as necessary for tomorrow with the same ratings system you will be utilizing going forward.
Now stop and close your eyes and take a few deep breaths.
Any noise rattling around in your brain about something that needs to be said or get done, make note of these, and get them written out so these are removed from your mind.
You have now concluded your day and prepared for tomorrow.
Make sure to get a good night’s sleep and be ready for a productive day tomorrow.
My goal for you is that you become more productive each and every day.
I’m certain if you will put the effort into implementing the tips from these two articles you’ll find your days to be more productive than they are right now.
