You’re thinking about a few things.
There’s a career opportunity.
You may have a new business idea.
Some personal problems you need to make decisions about.
Who do you bounce ideas around with?
The last thing you need is to air out something with someone and then read about it all over social networks five minutes later.
Or maybe you want to ask a lot of people their opinion on your situation.
Right! Now you have two dozen basketballs to dribble instead of just one.
Seriously, if you run a company, a fairly large organization, you know if you ask anyone else about anything their opinion will be skewed by how this item will impact their area and their future and hopefully yours as well.
This is exactly why it is so critical to have a relationship with a trusted advisor.
Let’s not get all caught up in the categories and names – the person may be an Executive Coach you work with – the point is you have come to appreciate and trust them and you know they are a confidential resource to you.
Recently one of my VIP clients texted me and asked me if I had a moment so they would be able to run something by me.
My response was “Sure call me now.” My wife and I were just finishing 18 holes of golf at our vacation resort in Cabo San Lucas, MX. All of my clients knew we were on vacation. I asked my wife to excuse me for a bit and if she would order for me the same lunch she ordered for herself and we’ll meet at the bar in a few minutes.
My VIP client and I spoke for over 20 minutes.
There were actually multiple items to discuss as certain decisions were going to impact other areas. The entire time of our call together I was looking out at the beautiful Pacific Ocean. However, my entire concentration was on our conversation together.
How would you this feel to you?
To be able to text and then soon after speak with your own personal trusted advisor?
Insurance is something you invest in and hope you never need to use…
Creating a relationship with a trusted advisor and retaining one is resource you will use and come to depend on.
Both are investments worth making depending upon your realistic assessment of what your needs and requirements are now and in the future.
Let’s set up a 15 minute call to gauge if having your own personal Trusted Advisor is right for you.
